Welcome
to the Open Adit™"Best Rock & Mineral
Web site" award program. The purpose of this award
is to recognize the hard work and dedication of those webmasters
who have invested time and effort in maintaining superiority
in web site design, and content pertaining to rocks, minerals,
fossils & gems etc . Our awards program was certified
by the QIWA
- Quality Independent Website Awards in 2003 to help
ensure standards and legitimacy. We are now included as members
of their alumnus due to our awards program no longer being
an independent program. We are currently rated as a Level
3 award in the science category with Award
Sites.
Please read the criteria and disqualifications of this
award program carefully. Open Adit™ will not issue
the award just because an application was filed. The
only way to achieve the award is to fulfil the criteria written to this award
program. If your site does not receive the award, it does not mean that your
site wasn't good enough. It simply means your site did not meet our criteria
of this award program at this time. We use a rating system consisting of Platinum,
Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards so that we may be generous with our "Best
Rock & Mineral Web site" awards, to a point, and help drive traffic
to your web site. However, the Platinum award represents the top of all the
best web sites in the Rock and Mineral World, and receiving this award is truly
an honor. Unfortunately, only a small number of our applicants will eventually
walk away with the Platinum, as we only reward those who excelled in all fields
of our criteria. If you win one of our "Best Rock & Mineral Web
site" awards
we will add your web site to our award
recipients page.
The
total points received will determine which award you will receive.
Platinum:
100+ Points
Gold:
90 - 100 Points
Silver:
80 - 89 Points
Bronze:
60 - 79 Points
Each site submitted will be carefully
evaluated and scored using the following criteria.
