Reasons for having the website disqualified or points deducted.

Do not apply for one of the Open Adit™ "Best Rock & Mineral Website" awards if the website does not deal with or contain material relating to or promoting rocks, fossils, minerals, gems etc.

Do not apply for one of the Open Adit™ "Best Rock & Mineral Website" awards if the website deals with or contains content which is offensive to others. Any sites containing the following, are reasons for disqualification. Pornography, hatred, propaganda, racism, war, nudity, gambling, hacking activities, use of tobacco products, drugs, violence, firearms, weapons, degradation, harm, slander, cult activity, vampirism, witch craft, gang related activity, roll playing (fantasy), public message boards.

Disqualification for sites which are not family safe.

Disqualification for sites that are not in English or have an English Translation option.

Disqualification for E- commerce sites to which sell products on an un-secure server to potentialy win Open Adit's "Best Rock & Mineral Website" Platinum or Gold award.

Disqualification for Multiple submissions for the same URL. (Submitting the same website more then once, does not increase the chances of winning an award from Open Adit™ Rocks & Minerals).

Disqualification for more than two banner Ads or one popup per page.

Disqualification for pop up windows which cause error messages. (example: free hosting popups)

Typographical errors in the URL being submitted which lead to a dead, broken or 404 error messages, are reason for immediate disqualification. (Please make sure the correct URL is submitted).

Disqualification if your site freezes our browser.

Disqualification for - Copying of award graphics, without authorized or written consent.

Disqualification for - pre-designed templates and not the applicants original work.

Disqualification for less then 5 pages of quality content.

Disqualification for - Websites requiring a password to view all pages.

Points deducted for - Requiring visitors to download programs or plug-ins to view your site.

Points deducted for - More then (2) spelling errors per page.

Disqualification for - Not allowing visitors to leave the website, by inserting scripts which prevent the visitor from exiting the site.

Points deducted for - Broken links, More then 1 (internal).

Points Deducted for - horizontal scroll bars.

Disqualification for - "Under Construction", signs or text. Do not apply for an award if the website is not finished!

Points Deducted For - Opening another site inside websites frames. (Use external links or target _blank if pages are not part of the website being submitted)

Disqualification for - Failure to give credit if using someone else's graphics or content. Infringing on another's copyrights.

Disqualification for - Failure to display the awards & award graphics won from Open Adit™ Rocks & Minerals.

Disqualification for - Altering our award graphics without permission.

Disqualification for - Bandwidth theft.

Disqualification for - Submitting redirect or "pointer pages" to Open Adit™ Rocks & Minerals.

Disqualification for - Not enclosing a "description" of the website, in the application.

Disqualification for - enclosing an incorrect email address, submitted in application. (If we try and notify you of your award status and the notification is returned to us, with invalid email address, we will not list the website on our winners list). The website will be disqualified.

Applicant's sites who are disqualified, will not be notified.

Important - Any changes made to the website after receiving an award from Open Adit™, which violate the Open Adit™ Code of Ethics or Criteria, will be reason to have the award revoked and the listing removed from our award recipients page.

In order to nominate a Web title, applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
